Your Circular stating that I was intitled to 13 New Shares in the Stock of The Commercial Banks of Loudon was duly received, and I regret that ill health & an extrence pressure of business principally occasioned by extensive repairs a our Premises caused me to overlook it until now. I am of our obliged for the offer, and had our fercie capital to spare should cheerfully embrace it, as I have no doubt it would prove good investiment, but the amount we already have in the Rock (£1000-) is more than we can conveniently spare from our active Capital, re than we or Mr. Medley anticipated when first subscribed, the price however of the shares has we until our very lately been so much below their fair value and confidence in the management of the Bank so we have not ferice that sumes we yet attempted a Sale: the very large expended last year & are expeceding this, in repavis, renders it impossible to lock up any more Capital than can be avoided.
